Calhoun County Traffic Warrants Explained
A Calhoun County traffic case rarely stands still. One citation can grow into a missed appearance, an FTA notice, an arrest warrant, or a capias pro fine, and those entries are related but not identical. A payment, a judge's setting, a recall order, and a DPS report may each update on its own schedule. So start with the court listed on the ticket. Port Lavaca's vendor covers only its municipal cases, while Seadrift, Point Comfort, and JP1 through JP5 keep separate contacts. And remember that a license-renewal hold is not proof an arrest warrant is active.
Calhoun County Citations Start at Several Courts
Where a ticket lands depends on who wrote it. A Port Lavaca Police citation for city traffic or ordinance matters goes to Port Lavaca Municipal Court at 202 N. Virginia. A county or precinct citation may belong to a JP instead, based on the case. Seadrift and Point Comfort each have municipal courts too, so a Calhoun County courthouse address alone does not make every ticket a county-court case.
| Citation source | First court route | Next step |
|---|---|---|
| Port Lavaca city ticket | Municipal Court vendor search | Call 361-552-9793 ext. 226/268. |
| Seadrift city ticket | Municipal clerk or City Hall | Ask whether the case is city court or JP4. |
| Point Comfort ticket | Municipal Court directory contact | Call 361-987-2661. |
| County or precinct ticket | JP1 through JP5 | Match the citation to its precinct. |
Port Lavaca’s Six Citation Search Inputs
Port Lavaca's official Online Warrant Search page links the city's vendor form. It offers several ways to find a municipal citation in this corner of Calhoun County. Match the route to your own paper, and skip the extra identity fields when a citation number will do.
| Route | Visible fields | Use and limit |
|---|---|---|
| Citation | Citation number, DOB | Enter the city citation as printed. |
| Driver license | Number, state, DOB | Searches court citation records only. |
| Social Security | Number, DOB | Sensitive route; use only for your own case. |
| Vehicle | Plate, state | Finds a citation, not a vehicle history. |
| Name | First and last, DOB | DOB may narrow a common name. |
| Business | Business name | Different from a personal case check. |
Inside a Traffic Warrant Record
The Port Lavaca PDF dated September 15, 2026 lists warrant number, R/S, issue date, and offense. A birth date may appear as well. The sheet shows no bond column, and the codes AW, CP, and CW have no published legend for Calhoun County readers. Cite these fields when you speak with the clerk.
| Citation number | City example format: E000123. Use the number on your notice. |
|---|---|
| Warrant number | A local identifier shown in the weekly PDF. |
| Issued and offense | Header fields that help match an entry to its case. |
| Code | Ask Municipal Court to explain AW, CP, or CW. |
| Bond or total | Not a repeated PDF field; confirm with the court. |
The list schema is described without publishing a row or any person’s details.
A JP Precinct Case Needs Its Clerk
For a county traffic matter, call the JP named on the citation or cause number. JP1 is 361-553-4621; JP2 is 361-553-4622; JP3 is 361-987-2930; JP4 is 361-785-7082; and JP5 is 361-983-2351. Calhoun County lists each office separately, and no shared JP warrant search exists. A Seadrift address can point to JP4 or to city court, so ask first. Point Comfort hosts both its municipal court and the JP3 office. Confirm with the clerk which court owns the ticket before paying or requesting a setting. The county's court directory links the JP pages.
Checking for a Traffic Warrant
In Port Lavaca, follow the city page to its official vendor search, then call Municipal Court if the result is unclear. Seadrift's municipal clerk can be reached through City Hall at 361-785-2251, or try the OCA directory number 361-785-2218. Point Comfort's court directory lists 361-987-2661. JP matters go to the right precinct. Tyler Odyssey can help locate a county court case, but it is not a traffic-warrant index for Calhoun County. The DPS FTA/FTP program can explain a reported compliance issue, yet DPS staff cannot confirm warrants. Ask the reporting court directly whether an FTA is separate from an arrest warrant or capias. That distinction matters everywhere in Calhoun County.
September Roundup Terms Are Date-Limited
Port Lavaca's notice dated September 2, 2026 sets a September 30 deadline for its municipal program. Pay warrant-related violations in full after coming in voluntarily, and associated FTA charges may qualify for dismissal. Partial payments do not automatically qualify. Payment-plan approval and FTA dismissal stay with the judge. The notice allows Thursday 1 p.m. off-docket access before the deadline, plus a 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. window on roundup day. Cases where an officer makes contact while the warrant is active are excluded. These terms apply to Port Lavaca only, not all of Calhoun County, and they expire with the dates. Check the live notice before relying on any of it.
How to Pay or Lift a Traffic Warrant
Ask the court whether the balance, the FTA, and the warrant each need separate action. Port Lavaca accepts online and phone payments and lists cashier's check or money order by mail. A payment plan requires a court agreement. Its payment page warns that paying by phone or mail may count as a guilty plea and conviction on the citation, reported to DPS. Other Calhoun County courts set their own terms.
Payment is not always bond or recall. Ask what the payment resolves before submitting it.

No other city or JP court in Calhoun County publishes a shared payment form. Call the issuing clerk instead.
Traffic Warrants, FTA, and License Holds
An FTA concerns a missed court appearance. An FTP can concern an unpaid judgment. A warrant is court process. A DPS renewal hold is a compliance record sent by a court, and one can exist without answering the others, so confirm each status with its own source in Calhoun County.
| Item | What it indicates | Who confirms |
|---|---|---|
| Traffic citation | Underlying city or JP case | Court printed on the citation |
| FTA or FTP | Missed appearance or unpaid judgment status | Reporting court |
| Arrest warrant or capias | Separate court process | Issuing court |
| DPS hold | Court-reported compliance issue affecting renewal | Court or OmniBase, 1-800-686-0570 |
DPS says an update may take three to five business days after a court reports. That delay says nothing about a separate warrant. The official DPS FTA/FTP program explains the license-compliance route.
Calhoun County Payment Updates Can Differ
Timing varies from system to system. Port Lavaca refreshes its list weekly. DPS, though, reports a three-to-five-business-day update after a court reports compliance. Odyssey and each clerk may run separate records on separate clocks, so ask when each system will change. Keep the receipt, payment agreement, or signed order as proof. A plate search on the city vendor is just a citation lookup, not a driving-record, insurance, or vehicle-history product. For city-court routes, see Calhoun County municipal warrants.
